The composition of the turning lathe

Ordinary lathes generally refer to horizontal metal lathes, which are called industrial master machines. It is widely used and contains many basic mechanical elements of other machine tools. Only by knowing the structure and function of the lathe can we understand and use the lathe well. Usually a lathe is generally composed of a headstock, a bed, a saddle and a tailstock.

The headstock is made of strong, non-deformable metal. It contains the main shaft and its supporting bearings and variable speed structure. The chuck that clamps the workpiece is mounted on the spindle. The main part of the lathe is the bed, which is made of cast iron, the guide rail is the ground surface of the bed, and the saddle and tailstock straddle the bed. The bed saddle supports the middle slide plate, small slide plate and tool holder, and moves along the guide rail in manual or automatic feeding mode. The square tool holder can install up to four knives, and each knife is locked with hexagonal screws.

The slide box and the horizontal slide saddle form the bed saddle. The slide box is connected to the front of the bed saddle. It contains a mechanism that controls the longitudinal feed and thread cutting movement of the bed saddle. It controls the horizontal feed movement of the middle slide. The middle slide plate is composed of a dovetail slide plate that moves at right angles to the guide rail. The small skateboard is installed on the middle skateboard and is connected to the turntable on the middle skateboard by bolts. The tailstock casting body straddles the guide rail and moves along the length of the bed to adapt to work of different lengths.
